Weatherman Sonam Lotus Awarded

Srinagar: Director Meteorological Department Jammu and Kashmir, Sonam Lotus bagged Best Employee Award for the year 2017-18 in recognition of his significant contribution in the field of climate science and systematic, precise weather warnings which are averting disaster and natural calamities in the State.

The award function was organized by Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) in New Delhi on Friday evening, where the department celebrated annual foundation day of MoES.

Lotus was born in Shara village, about 60 km from Leh district of J&K.

He is posted in J&K for the past several years, having earned a unique reputation as people look forward to his weather forecasts which are trusted and mostly accurate. (GK)
