Anantnag TeH Activist Booked Under PSA, Shifted To Kathua Jail

Anantnag: A TeH (Tehreek-e-Hurriyat) activist from South Kashmir’s Anantnag district was booked under PSA (Public Safety Act) by authorities on Friday and was shifted to Kathua Jail in Jammu.

Bashir Ahmad Malik, a TeH (Tehreek-e-Hurriyat) activist hailing from Uranhall area of Bijbehara town in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district was arrested by police on charges of stone pelting three months ago.

Two FIR’s were registered against him at Police Station, Bijbehara, in which he was already bailed out.

“He was also known to give provocative speeches and address rallies so that people can raise anti-national slogans” said a police source, adding he had wider role in provocating youths in the area.

Bashir is a small time contractor by profession and is father of three minors (two son’s & one daughter)

“He is the only source of our livelihood, while his father, Gulam Nabi Malik is suffering from last stage Cancer and is bed ridden since Two Years now” said the aged mother of Bashir Ahmad, Jana Begum adding, Bashir is the sole breadwinner of our family and it is he who used to bear expenses on the treatment of his father who has lung cancer”.

“My son’s pro-freedom ideology was since from Childhoood”, added Jana Begam.

“His father is battling for life and wants his son by his side this time. But the authorities have not only denied him that but shifted him to Kautha Jail which is more than 200 kilometers away,” Malik’s Mother Said.

However, despite that he was not released, instead he was booked under PSA and shifted to Kathua Jail on Friday evening.
