Kashmir Concern and Rotary Club of Kashmir Celebrate World Environment Day with Chinar Plantation Drive
Srinagar, June 5 : Kashmir Concern and the Rotary Club of Kashmir joined hands to celebrate World Environment Day by planting Chinar saplings across the region. The event was graced by MLA Lal Chowk, Ahsan Pradesi, as the Chief Guest, who emphasized the cultural and historical significance of Chinar trees in Kashmir.
Speaking at the occasion, Ahsan Pradesi highlighted the deep-rooted connection between Kashmiris and the majestic Chinar, often referred to as the “Royal Tree of Kashmir.” He stressed the need for collective efforts to preserve the environment and urged citizens to take proactive steps in tree plantation and ecological protection.
Dr. Touseef Ahmed, Chairman of Kashmir Concern, while addressing the media, stated, “Celebrating World Environment Day is not enough; we must go beyond symbolic gestures and take concrete actions to safeguard our ecosystem. The Chinar is not just a tree but a symbol of our heritage, and its preservation is our responsibility.” He called for sustained environmental initiatives, including awareness campaigns, waste management drives, and stricter policies against deforestation.
The plantation drive saw enthusiastic participation from volunteers, environmentalists, and local residents, reinforcing the community’s commitment to a greener future.
