HC seeks stance of Information Dept over ‘fake journalists, portals’

Srinagar, Aug 2: The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir & Ladakh issued a notice on Friday to the Secretary of the Department of Information & Public Relations, J&K, in response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Dr. M Shuja, a journalist and General Secretary of the J&K Peoples’ Forum.
The petitioner was represented by Advocate Vaseem Aslam
The PIL raises the concerns about the proliferation of “fake journalists, portals, and unregistered social media sites” in the region.
The court has asked the department’s stance on the matter, with the next hearing set for September 4, 2024.
