Pulwama, Mar 12: Meet the three teachers in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district who according to them were made scapegoats after the school building they were teaching in collapsed and were suspended from their duties followed by the fall down of the building.

According to wire service Kashmir News Observer (KNO), as per the reports, the teachers were suspended by the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Pulwama for not letting them (higher ups) aware about the shambles condition of the school building.

The order as per the reports was made public on March 06. The trio was teaching students at Primary School Wakherwan in Tahab zone of Pulwama district. This building was collapsed recently and the concerned CEO had suspended the trio.

Shabir Ahmad, (Head Teacher) was suspended and also attached to Higher Secondary School Gulzarpora while Mushtaq Ahmad was attached to Primary school Banderpora and Bashir Ahmad was attached to Primary school Renzipora.

Ahmad said that he has sent many letters (still available with him) to the higher ups regarding the condition of School and urged them to provide basic infrastructure to the School.

“Irony is that the concerned authorities have signed the applications from last five years but have failed to deliver on ground,” he said, adding that the CEO and his team are now hiding their failure by making them scapegoats.

The last letter under number receipt number 6279 was sent by Ahmad on November 23 2019 after snow damaged the structure of Primary School. Ahmad said that he had also attached the photos of damaged building in the letter.

Prior to this, Ahmad said he has also written to the Zonal education Officer (ZEO) few days ahead of opening of schools on 24 February after two month winter break.

Chief Education Officer (CEO) Pulwama, Choudary Gulzar Ahmad said that these teachers were teaching in the concerned School for last 20 and they are a blot in the name of teaching in the village where the school is located. “These three teachers are getting Rs one lakh fifty thousand salary per month, but their work in last 20 year is not up to the mark,” he said.
