Vohra to carry major reshuffle in administration soon
Srinagar, Jun 20: Governor NN Vohra, who assumed all functions of the Government of the State after the sudden split of PDP-BJP alliance, is affecting a major reshuffle in top bureaucracy and police, highly placed sources told GNS on Wednesday.
They said soon after the proclamation for the governor’s rule was issued, Vohra took stock of administration functioning in the state.
Sources privy to several meetings chaired by him told GNS that Vohra expressed displeasure over the functioning of the state administration, especially in key areas.
They said that immediately there will be a major reshuffle in state’s bureaucracy. Sources said that top police officers are also being reshuffled.
Soon after assuming the charge, the Governor held meeting with all the Administrative Secretaries and the senior most Police and Forest Service officers at the Civil Secretariat here. He directed Administrative Secretaries and DGP to ensure that all Government functionaries attended office punctually and their presence is daily monitored through the Bio-metric attendance system. He said administrative secretaries shall personally review and ensure prompt and efficient delivery of various public services to the people of the State, complaints regarding delays, irregularities and corruption must be dealt with most sternly and those responsible should be proceeded against without any fear or favour.
He also directed Chief Secretary to have prepared by tomorrow department wise lists of all pending cases and forward the same to him with his remarks regarding the reasons for delay. He asked Chief Secretary to ensure that every important matter was timely disposed of and all cases which required higher level approvals should be sent to the Governor. (GNS)
