Unemployment, development inertia hallmarks of BJP rule in J&K: Sakina Itoo

Addresses Workers’ convention in Nandimarg DH Pora, says NC committed to peoples welfare

Srinagar Sept 11  The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Sunday said that over the past 4 years J&K under BJP rule continues to witness large scale development inertia coupled with unemployment.

This was said by the party’s Central Secretary and former Minister Sakina Itoo, while addressing workers meeting at Nandimarg, DH Pora. Among others block unit functionaries were also present on the occasion.

Asserting that people’s support for NC is tied to its beliefs of equitable development, social justice and welfarism, Sakina said, “The beam and trust of the bridge that connects our party with the people of Kashmir is based on the welfare activities carried out by our successive governments. The blueprint provided by Naya Kashmir manifesto has always guided our steps, when formulating schemes for people.”

“During our stints in power, we have shown what public welfare looks like. Through our welfare expansions we brought a large number of elderly people under the cover of old age pension and provided financial help to thousands of poor households to marry off their daughters by introducing the marriage assistance scheme. We had also whole heartedly worked for the welfare of the disabled section of the society. It was in our stint in power that the exact number of disabled persons was surveyed and provided with pension  under various social security schemes,” she said.

“Unfortunately the incumbent administration has turned a blind eye towards the infrastructural issues in the remote areas, and DH Pora is no different. The fate of various infrastructural work including Adijan bridge and road to Gool Gulabgarh has been put into a cold storage. People in the areas are suffering from lack of basic civic amenities and public utility services all at the same time. The losses suffered by the local farmers due to weather vagaries continue to remain uncompensated,” she added.

She assured the people that she will raise issues concerning them at all appropriate forums for their swift redressal.(KNS)
