Terror Threat Remains Despite Low Numbers: R R Swain
Emphasizing that even a single unaccountable individual poses a significant threat, Swain underscored the ongoing menace of indiscriminate violence.
“The terrorists are not numerous in the valley,” stated DGP, “but their presence as unaccountable entities remains a critical concern.” He stressed that the motivations behind such violence often transcend local issues, posing a challenge to security forces.
Speaking on the joint efforts with Punjab Police to curb infiltration, Swain acknowledged the infiltration through the Punjab border as a known issue. “Infiltration is occurring via the Punjab border, which is well-documented,” he affirmed. The collaborative meeting aimed to strategize against new methods employed by infiltrators, particularly their use of tunnels for covert entry.
While maintaining operational confidentiality on specific strategies, Swain assured that collaborative efforts have resulted in effective responses. “We deliberated on methods to enhance our response capabilities,” he added, “and have formulated strategies that we believe will yield results.”(KNS)
