Srinagar Trial Court Delivers Verdict: Accused Convicted in Narcotics Case

Srinagar, Feb 13: The District and Sessions Judge Srinagar has convicted Junaid Raina, a resident of Kaloosa Bandipora, in a narcotics case dating back to 2020. Raina was apprehended at a checkpoint by Parimpora Police with a significant quantity of banned drugs, namely 10 boxes of Spasmo Proxyvon Plus. Following his arrest, Raina was found to be involved in drug trafficking and subsequently booked under the NDPS Act.

During the trial, the prosecution, led by Public Prosecutor Sareer Ahmad, meticulously presented its case, leading to a conviction by the 4th Additional District and Sessions Judge Srinagar, Gowhar Majeed Dallal. The court asserted that the evidence presented by the prosecution was compelling and left no room for doubt regarding Raina’s guilt.

Despite attempts by the defense counsel to challenge the accusations, the court found no merit in their arguments and ruled in favor of conviction under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act. As a result, Raina has been remanded to custody at Central Jail Srinagar to serve his sentence.

The Superintendent of Central Jail Srinagar has been instructed to ensure Raina’s presence at the next hearing to determine the quantum of punishment. This conviction marks a significant victory in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the region
