Security Forces Convoy Attacked In Poonch, Searches Underway
JAMMU (KIMS) — Suspected militants on Friday evening attacked a convoy of security forces vehicles at Khanetar area of Krishna Ghati Sector in Poonch district of Jammu region.
The attack happened at around 06:00 pm today from a jungle near Krishna Ghati Sector in the district.
Indian Army’s Jammu based White Knight Corps in a post on X said, “At around 1800h today, a Security Forces convoy of vehicles was fired upon by suspected militants from a jungle near Krishna Ghati Poonch Sector.”
Soon after the incident, the joint team of security forces including Indian Army and J&K Police launched a massive search operation in the area.
“Joint search operation by Indian Army and J&K Police is in progress,” the post said.
The attack came hours after the Northern Army Commander Lt General Upendra Dwivedi and GOC of 16 Corps Lt General Navin Sachdeva visited forward areas of Rajouri district reviewed the operational preparedness of the formations in Rajouri Poonch sector along with senior appointments from J&K Police, CRPF and intelligence agencies.
This attack on the Army vehicle comes three weeks after militants ambushed two Army vehicles in Poonch in December last year leaving four soldiers dead and injuries to two others. — (KIMS)
