RTO Kashmir Takes Firm Action Against Traffic Violations in Srinagar: Dozens of Vehicles Suspended

Srinagar May 03 : The Regional Transport Office (RTO) Kashmir has escalated its efforts to ensure road safety and enforce traffic regulations in Srinagar city. A special checking drive, led by the flying squad Enforcement team, targeted various locations across the city, with a notable focus on Nowgam Bypass.

The operation primarily aimed at vehicles, particularly commercial and contract carriage vehicles, equipped with speed limiting devices (SLDs). Shockingly, inspections revealed tampered SLDs allowing vehicles to exceed the mandated speed limit of 80 kmph. In response, authorities swiftly suspended licenses on the spot, signaling a zero-tolerance approach toward reckless driving practices.

Furthermore, flagrant violations were observed among school buses and heavy transport vehicles, including trucks neglecting rear number plates—a critical safety requirement. Consequently, numerous vehicles, along with their owners and drivers, faced immediate suspension and blacklisting, highlighting the seriousness of non-compliance with traffic regulations.

The ARTO Flying Squad spearheaded this operation, demonstrating a proactive stance toward maintaining road safety and upholding the rule of law. Prior circular notices had been issued to relevant associations, emphasizing the importance of adherence to traffic norms.

This decisive action underscores RTO Kashmir’s commitment to fostering a culture of responsible driving and ensuring the safety of all road users. The drive against traffic infractions will continue, with authorities remaining resolute in their efforts to curb violations and promote safer roadways for all.
