Public Advisory: Unsafe Spring Water in Ganderbal and Srinagar Districts
The Jal Shakti (PHE) Rural Water Supply Division Ganderbal/Srinagar has conducted a thorough sampling and testing of various springs across the Ganderbal District. Out of the 40 samples collected, 37 were found to be bacteriologically positive, making the water unfit for human consumption.
In response to these findings, the department has issued an advisory to the public in Ganderbal and rural Srinagar, urging residents to refrain from using spring water for drinking purposes. Instead, they are advised to use tap water and, if spring water must be used, to ensure it is thoroughly boiled before consumption.
Authorities have requested the dissemination of this notice through media channels, including Kashmiri and Urdu news bulletins, newspapers, and public posters in masjids and temples. The public is encouraged to adhere strictly to these guidelines until further updates are provided.
