Jammu: The Dogra Front and Jammu West Assembly Movement on Thursday staged demonstrations against the killing of policemen in the Kashmir valley and Pakistan’s continuous support to militants operating in the state.
Led by Dogra Front president Ashok Gupta, the protesters demanded stern action against the stone throwers who were involved in violence on the occasion of Eid in the Valley.
“On the auspicious day of Eid, stones were thrown, shoes were shown, people were pushed and manhandled during prayers. The people who disrespected the auspicious day of Eid should be identified and punished as it was not the day for such acts,” Gupta said while addressing the protesters.
He said the soft approach of the Centre and state towards local militants had led to the killing of policemen almost on a daily basis. Jammu West Assembly Movement activists also staged a protest against Pakistan for funding and sponsoring terrorism in J&K.
“Pakistan and separatist leaders are responsible for the killing of policemen and innocent people in Kashmir as they are sponsoring terrorism there,” organisation president Sunil Dimple said. (The Tribune)
