Poonch Government Employee Caught Campaigning for BJP, Viral Photos Trigger Uproar
Srinagar, Sep 8: The photographs of a government employee has gone viral on social media wherein she can be seen carrying election campaigns for a political party.
Shazia Mir, a government employee in Tehsil Mandi, Poonch, can be seen in photographs purportedly campaigning for the BJP party.
The neitizens raised several questions about her behaviour going unnoticed by the authorities.
“Mir, previously posted at GMS Dhangri in Zone Sathra and currently attached to the ZEO Office Sathra, is violating the model code of conduct, which strictly prohibits government employees from engaging in political activities while in service,” wrote one of the social media users while commenting on the viral photograph.
Local alleged that she has not been attending her duties for years, adding further scrutiny to her involvement in the political campaign.
The Election Commission has clear guidelines mandating that government employees remain neutral during elections.
Violating these rules can result in disciplinary actions.
In the past few weeks, several employees have faced suspension for similar violations.
Citizens and politicians are calling for swift disciplinary measures, arguing that delays in enforcing the law could undermine public trust in the electoral process.
The officials were unavailable for comments.
