Police Register Case After Family Tortures Their Daughter-In-Law

Pulwama: Police on Wednesday registered an attempt to murder case against a family for allegedly torturing their daughter-in-law and trying to hang her with a ceiling fan.

Reports said that a woman from Tengpuna village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district was rescued by her neighbors when her in-laws tried to hang her with a ceiling fan with clear intent to kill her.

The woman (name withheld) who is in her family ways and the mother of two is undergoing treatment at SMHS hospital.

She told news agency CNS that she was married to one Sajad Ahmed Dar, a decade ago.

“After I gave birth to two daughters, the in-laws started harassing me on one or the other pretext. Yesterday, my in-laws and husband locked me up in a room. They tortured me and tried to hang me on ceiling fan. It was my little daughter who raised hue and cry and finally my neighbors rescued me and shifted to Pulwama hospital where from I was referred to SMHS Hospital,” the victim said.

A police official while confirming the incident said that they have registered an FIR vide number 205/18 under section 307, 498 RPC and investigation has been taken up. (CNS)
