Police recover contraband substance at Mohanviji Pulwama; Accused arrested
Pulwama, Jan 19: Police on Monday said they recovered a substantial quantity of contraband substance during a search operation at Mohanviji area of Kakpora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Acting on specific and credible information, police established that one Showkat Ahmad Bhat, son of Ali Mohammad, a resident of Mohanviji, Kakpora, had concealed a large quantity of Charas inside his residential house. Accordingly, FIR No. 06/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act was registered and investigation was taken up, police said.
Following this, after obtaining a search warrant from the Court of JMIC Pulwama, a search was conducted at the accused’s residence in the presence of an Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Kakpora, in accordance with legal procedures.
During the search, police recovered four kilograms of semi-grinded Charas-like substance along with 400 grams of Charas powder, which were seized on the spot. The accused was arrested and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended distribution network of the contraband, they added.
Pulwama Police said the drive against drug trafficking will continue to curb the menace of narcotics.
