Physics Department of NIT Srinagar signs first functional MoU with GLA University

 

MoU will boost the mutual coordination between the two intuitions: Prof. MF Wani

Srinagar, Nov 25:  The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar’s Physics Department on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with GLA University, Mathura Uttar Pradesh (UP) to develop academic, collaborative research and promote mutual understanding between the two institutions.

The MoU was signed by In-charge-Director, NIT Srinagar Prof. (Dr.) MF Wani, Institute’s Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari, Prof. Ashok Kumar Singh, Registrar GLA University and Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Kumar Sharma, Dean International Relations and Academic Collaboration, GLA University.

Head of Department (HoD) Physics, Dr. M. A Shah and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.   Dr. P. A Ganai from NIT Srinagar and Dr. Dharamveer Singh (Asst. Prof) from GLA University, Mathura are the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for the said MoU.

On the occasion, In-charge-Director and Dean Research and Consultancy (R&C) NIT Srinagar, Prof. M F Wani said this MoU will boost the mutual coordination between the two intuitions. We hope this partnership will help both the institutions to reach desired results,” he said.

In his message, Director, NIT Srinagar Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal said this MoU will further strengthen our ties. It is indeed a matter of great pleasure as technological institutions are coming together to sign the historic MoU, he said.

“We will take it forward for the benefit of students, faculty members, and other staff members of both respective intuitions. It will help us to serve humanity through technological dimensions”, he said.

Institute’s Registrar, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari said the signing of this MoU will bring both organizations closer to serving society. Both NIT Srinagar and GLA University, Mathura will act as a bridge between society and technology, he said.

“I am happy to sign this MoU between the two intuitions and it will boost the mutual coordination between faculty and students. We are confident that this partnership will help us produce industry-ready graduates who are prepared to contribute towards the fast-growing global society, he said.

Prof. Bukhari said the goal of this MoU will be achieved within the given time frame. We hope in future both NIT Srinagar and GLA University, Mathura will work together on more such projects,” he said.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Kumar Sharma said it is a positive step that MoU will encourage academic partnership and fruitful research collaboration between NIT Srinagar and GLA University, Mathura.

“We are aiming forward for the joint research projects and faculty exchange programs,” he said.

HOD Physics, Dr. MA Shah said the main objective of the MoU’s is to support reciprocity in university extension activities of common interests.

“It will include the exchange of technology, scientific publications, study programs, academic projects, course information, seminars, conferences, and any other data and information of common interest,” he said.

Dr. Shah said it will develop joint research projects and joint publications. Conduct mutual international conferences and workshops and offer dual certificates.

The scope of collaboration on academic and research activities in MoU’s includes exchange of faculty members and researchers with the objective of offering courses and realizing research projects in areas mutually agreed upon by both the institutions.

It will also include exchange of undergraduate and graduate students from the Department of Physics with the objective of enrolling them in Short Term Courses. It will support reciprocity in university extension activities (such as guest lecture, seminar, conference, workshop, etc.) of common interest.

The MoU reads that there will be exchange of books, scientific publications, study programs, academic projects, course information, seminars, conferences and any other data and information of common interest by both the institutions.

“The collaboration is aimed to develop joint research projects, FDP’s, valued added interests and joint publications and conduct mutual international conferences and workshops,” it said.

Later the visiting faculty members from GLA University, Mathura visited various laboratories on the campus and praised the work of NIT Srinagar administration for developing state of art facilities for the students.
