No major western disturbance in Jammu and Kashmir till Jan 20: MeT
SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Meteorological Department (MeT) on Thursday said that no major western disturbance is likely to affect Jammu and Kashmir till January 20.
The department said that light to moderate snowfall was recorded over higher reaches, while light rain occurred at many places across the Jammu division during the past 24 hours.
According to data available, Sadhna Pass received about six inches of snowfall, while Gurez and Tulail recorded 8–12 inches. The Sonamarg–Zojila axis received 5–8 inches, Gulmarg around two inches, and Mughal Road and Sinthan Top 2–4 inches of snowfall.
The MeT Department said the weather on January 1 is expected to remain generally cloudy, with the possibility of light rain or snowfall at scattered places across Jammu and Kashmir.
It added that no major western disturbance is expected after January 1 till January 20, except for a few feeble western disturbances during the period.
Meanwhile, the summer capital Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 2.2°C, Qazigund 2.0°C, Kupwara 1.9°C, Kokernag 1.1°C, Pahalgam 0.4°C and Gulmarg minus 5.5°C on Thursday.
The winter capital Jammu recorded 10.7°C, Katra 8.7°C, Batote 5.7°C, Banihal 3.9°C and Bhaderwah 4.0°C. — (KIMS)
