Militants Escape After Brief Shootout In Shopian Village, Forces Intensify Searches
Shopian: A brief gunfight broke out between militants and the government forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district early Sunday morning.
A police official said militants fired upon army soldiers and Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel during a search operation in Laddi Imamsahab village around 7 am.
The forces retailed the fire, triggering a brief gunfight, he said. However, the militants managed to escape from the area.
The official said that the search operation was intensified to nab the militants.
