Kashmiri Woman Dies After Resisting Alleged Rape Attempt
Srinagar, May 4: Two men from Kashmir have been accused of attempting to rape a Gujjar woman near the Water Works Road in Nishat. The victim, identified as Anwar Begum, wife of Mohammad Rafiq, originally from Reasi but presently residing in Nishat, reportedly resisted the assault and sustained severe injuries.
The accused, Suhail Bashir Bhat, son of Bashir Ahmad from Sumbal, and Adil Ahmad Dar, son of Ali Mohammad from Nishat, were allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
The woman was rushed to the hospital by bystanders but was declared brought dead upon arrival.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, and the accused are reportedly in custody.
