Kashmir University Issues Admission Notice For PG Courses

Srinagar: After a delay of five months, the University of Kashmir (KU) has issued a notice for admissions of new batches in postgraduate and undergraduate courses.

The official notification was issued on Monday in which the university has called for online applications in more than 50 postgraduate and bachelors degree courses.

The date for online submission of applications starts from July 25 to August 3. University officials said the common entrance exams would be conducted on August 9 after which the results would be declared in a timely manner.

As per the university rules, the eligibility criteria for aspirants is 45 per cent in undergraduate courses under open merit category and 40 per cent for reserved category.

In science, open merit students are required to have 50 per cent marks in their final year while the eligibility criteria for reserved category students is 45 per cent, the officials said.

In MTech, MSc Biotechnology and Medical, the eligibility for open merit is 55 per cent while for the reserved categories, it is 50 per cent.

The new academic session normally begins at the university in February or March every year but this year, the admission process was delayed because the final year students in degree colleges across the Valley could not complete their degrees on time as their exams were delayed due to uncertain situations.

“The exams of final year students are going to finish on July 27, so they can seek provisional admissions. The academic calendar is derailed already,” an official said. (TheTribune)
