Srinagar, Apr 19: Islamic Court of Shareit J&K has filed a complaint before Cyber Police Srinagar against miscreants who shared pre-recorded statement of the J&K Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam about the announcement of Eid-ul-Fitr.
In the pre-recorded statement, the Grand Mufti is announcing that “moon was not sighted on 20 April and now Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on 22 April, Saturday 2023.”
Pre-recorded statements about sighting of moon are recorded in both affirmative and negative about crescent by media houses in advance and run accordingly as per the final decision announced by the Ruh-e-Hilal Committee J&K.
These Pre-recorded statements are conditional and are given out of trust with conditions that such statements shall not be made public or shared on any platform.
The pre-recorded statements save time of media houses to run the relevant statement immediately after Ruh-e-Hilal Committee J&K announces its final decision about the sighting of moon.
However, this year, during the pre-recording of statement for media house, some miscreants recorded the same in their mobile camera and upload it on social media.
The viral video (pre-recorded) create confusion about general public. It has also hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims in J&K.
In its complaint addressed to Cyber Police Srinagar, the Mufti Nasir has written: “The undersigned today was busy with Doordarshan Kendra in connection with Pre-recording positive/ negative announcement regarding sightation of Eid.”
“Some miscreant present in the office used his Cellphone and recorded the statement in order to create confusion among the general Public. It is requested to kindly identify the person and take appropriate action against such person for breach of trust and creating Law & order problem,” it reads.
