Disaster preparedness reviewed at Kishtwar
Admin creates DDMA Corpus Fund; appeals employees, people to donate
KISHTWAR, JULY 10: The District administration Kishtwar today reviewed the disaster preparedness here at a meeting of line departments with District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana in the chair.
The meeting reviewed the overall preparedness with district heads of various departments and also revised the various committees of District Disastrous Management Authority (DDMA).
The DDC directed the officials to keep men and machinery ready to meet any kind of eventuality in the event of inclement weather or disaster like situation.
Threadbare discussion was held on a number of issues ranging from establishment of full-fledged emergency operation centre, availability of necessary men and machinery, including civil defence volunteers and preparation of District Disaster Management plan.
The DDC took stock of the preparedness of Civil Defence, SDRF and Fire and Emergency services for dealing with any kind of natural calamity. He stressed upon the rescue teams to stay prepared for quick response.
The DC laid stress on maintaining close coordination among the departments and decided to hold mock drills across the district.
The meeting was informed that SDRF men have been kept on standby mode and it will be further augmented by involving personnel from police, Fire and Emergency Services and volunteers.
Meanwhile, the DC appealed all the employees to donate one day salary as donation towards the DDMA Corpus fund to help the victim families during any calamity.
The meeting decided to open a saving account for the corpus fund and circulate it among all Officers and public for making donations.
Local administration in Tehsils was directed to identify the slide prone, flood prone areas and establish Emergency Operation Centre for receiving and disseminating information about the emergency situations.
The meeting was attended by SSP Kishtwar Abrar Ahmed Chowdhary, ADDC Imam Din, ADC Kishori Lal, CPO Yasir Balwan, ACR Inderjeet Parihar, Red Cross Honorary Secretary Ali Asgar, volunteers of NCC,NSS school heads and representatives of Army, CISF and CRPF.
