Better road connectivity imperative for equitable development of JK: Sham Choudhary
JAMMU, JUNE 16: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Chaudhary today said that better road connectivity is imperative for ensuring equitable development of the state.
He said this after initiating the black topping work on Khepar to Jasore road here.
The Minister reiterated that the government has initiated several projects to improve road connectivity with special focus on border areas for holistic development of the state.
He informed that the blacktopping of 3 km long road from Khepar to Jasore via Kalali Tibba would be constructed by PWD (R&B) department at an estimated cost of Rs 52 lakh.
He asserted that durable roads and enhanced infrastructure tops the development agenda of the present dispensation and focus is being laid on upgrading and improving the road network in rural and remote areas.
The Minister further said the government has laid full focus on development of infrastructure and providing better civic amenities to the people of the state.
He said that government is laying emphasis on improving road network by linking internal roads with National Highways to give fillip to development activities in the state. The government is ensuring liberal funding under several state and centrally sponsored schemes to ensure overall development of the State, he added.
The Minister stressed on regular quality checks at both pre and post construction stages to ensure adherence to quality standards. Senior functionaries of the concerned departments besides prominent citizens of the area were present on the occasion.
