Amid doctors’ strike, patient rush to JVC increases
Patients laud medics, admn
Srinagar, Jul 05 As the Resident Doctors strike continued in Govt Medical College and its associated hospitals including the Lal Ded Hospital, there has been a sudden increase in the rush of patients to the JVC Hospital Bemina particularly patients having Delivery issues, surgical and other issues.
Our correspondent who visited the hospital emergency and OPD narrated how difficult it was to manage entry due to huge rush.
As per the hospital records on a average more than 3000 patients are being attended in OPD and causality on daily basis is with the total number attended from 3rd July to 5th July numbering 10011, with more than hundreds of admissions daily in the 250 bedded hospital whose capacity as per the Directions of the Principal has been enhanced by 40 more beds by accommodating the same in various corridors of the hospital to accommodated more and more patients and ensure treatment to patients coming from other hospital affected by strike.
The additional staff in all related departments has been augmented. The dedication and commitment shown by the Doctors, Paramedical and other staff in JVC Bemina was highly appreciated by the attendants and relatives of patients admitted there and the way doctors have continued to attend OPDs beyond 5.00 pm till the last registered patient was seen.
It is worthwhile to mention that the JVC Hospital came to the rescue of LD Hospital last year when on 12th May, 2017 the LD Hospital Operation theatre suddenly caught fire, forcing closure of Obstetric emergencies and most of the patients were accommodated in the make shift wards & corridors of JVC Hospital and 28 emergency surgeries performed in that night which was highly appreciated by social circles.
