After Mother’s Appeal, Militants Let Go Abducted SPO
Srinagar: Militants late Saturday evening released the abducted cop 24 hours after he was picked up from his home in Tral.
Sources said that Mudassir Ahmad Lone, the Special Police Officer in Jammu and Kashmir Police has reached home. Lone was posted in Reshipora area of Awantipora in Pulwama district.
Earlier in the day, the family of Mudassir appealed the militants to forgive their son and allow him to return to his family.
In an emotional appeal that has gone viral on social networking sites, the mother of the SPO surrounded by her three daughters says: “He is my lone son among three daughters. He (Mudasir) had to come back home (quit the job) and was to declare it this Friday in the mosque. However, he got engaged in some work and didn’t get time.”
She appealed the militants to have mercy on her and her daughters and set Mudassir free for Almighty Allah’s sake.
“You are also my own children. I request you to kindly set him free and he will quit the job and apologize for all his mistakes.”
Before his release, a video went viral on social networking sites in which Mudasir is seen apologizing for gathering information about militants. “We were lured into police for getting recruited into its traffic department,” he says.
Mudassir is also seen appealing other SPO’s to quit their jobs and return to their families.
