35th Convocation of IGNOU organized at Regional Centre Jammu
Jammu, 26 April, 2022:
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) organized its 35th Convocation which was organized on 26th April, 2022 at IGNOU Maidan Garhi New Delhi Headquarters and simultaneously at thirty two Regional Centres across the Country including Regional Centre at Jammu. As many as Two Lakh Ninety One Thousand students have been declared qualified to receive Degrees/Diplomas in the 35th Convocation across the country. All those students who have passed in December 2020 and June 2021 Term-End Examinations were declared eligible to receive their Degree/Diploma certificates in the 35th Convocation.
Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India , was the Chief Guest and delivered convocation address and at the New Delhi Headquarters of IGNOU.
Convocation function at Jammu was held Auditorium of Teacher Bhawan, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. Prof. J.P. Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu, was the Chief Guest on this occasion at Regional Centre Jammu and awarded Degree Certificates to the eligible Learners. A total of Fourteen Thousand One Hundred and Fifty Nine (14159) students from Regional Centre Jammu were declared successful and eligible to receive Diplomas and Degree Certificates in the 35th Convocation function at Jammu out of which 3830 Master Degree learners, 10033 Bachelor Degree learners, 296 learners of Diploma/Post Graduate Diploma programmes. A total of 1312 candidates had paid the fee online. A total of 194 candidates had given their consent to receive Degree/Diploma certificates in person. Online invitations were sent to all those candidates who had given their consent to attend the function. However, 81 candidates attended the Convocation ceremony who were conferred upon Degree/Diploma certificates at the Convocation function today at the venue.
Prof. J.P. Sharma, Chief Guest on the occasion, termed the 35th Convocation of IGNOU as an occasion of Celebration of IGNOU’s achievements which is referred to as the People’s University accessible to all those far and wide who otherwise would have lost the opportunity to gain access to higher education, improve upon their qualification and increase the chances of employment.
The Chief Guest, Prof. J.P. Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu, congratulated the students on whom the University had conferred Degree Certificates and also appreciated the efforts made by the Regional Centre functionaries for the sincere efforts to widen the spectrum of education in the region.
Prof. J.P. Sharma in his Convocation address urged the awardees that they have to translate their educational achievements to benefit the world and that they all have a collective responsibility to work for progress of the society and the country as a whole.
Regional Director I/C, Dr. Vikram Singh, presented the Regional Centre Report. In his report Dr. Vikram Singh presented a summary of the initiatives that the University and the Regional Centre Jammu have taken to strengthen students support services network in the region. Dr. Sandeep Gupta and Dr. Asha Upadhyay, Assistant Regional Directors, hosted the Convocation function. S. Tejinder Pal Singh, Deputy Registrar, presented the vote of thanks.
The Regional Director I/C congratulated the awardees for their achievement and wished them success in their future endeavours and also appreciated the role of Regional Centre staff in making the function of 35th Convocation of IGNOU a success.
