Youth suffers pellet injury in eye near encounter site in Shopian, hospitalized
Srinagar, March 14: A 22-year-old youth has suffered injury in his left eye due to pellets fired by government forces to disperse protesters amid a gunfight at Rawalpora area in Shopian district of south Kashmir on Sunday.
A local militant was killed in an overnight gunfight while a US-made M-4 carbine and 36 Armour piercing rounds were recovered from the slain militant, according to a tweet by the army.
The injured youth has been identified as Arif Ahmed Wagay son of Nazir Ahmed Wagay of Rakhnara Shopain. The 22-year-old has suffered injury in his left eye, Dr Nazir Choudhary, Medical Superintendent SMHS hospital.
“He is admitted in ward 8,” the medical superintendent said. (GNS)
