Youth stabbed to death in Dalgate, accused held

 

Weapon of offense recovered, case registered: Police

 

Srinagar, Sep 02  : A teenage boy was stabbed to death in Srinagar’s Dalgate area on Saturday afternoon while the accused, who is a juvenile as per the police, has been arrested, officials said.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a scuffle took place at Srinagar’s Chinar Bagh.

A 15-year-old boy identified as Burhan Nisar from Konakhan Dalgate was attacked with a sharp weapon in his chest, resulting in his on spot death, they said, adding that a juvenile involved in the act has also been arrested by police.

Soon after the incident, a pall of gloom descended the entire area and the people started visiting the victim’s house in Dalgate.

Meanwhile, police in a tweet said that the weapon of offense has been recovered on the instance of the accused.

“One juvenile (name withheld) apprehended for stabbing & murdering a 15 year old boy in chinar bagh area. Weapon of offence also recovered on instance of the accused, this knife was thrown by accused in marshy area after the crime. FIR no 36/2023 registered in Kothibagh PS,” Srinagar Police tweeted—(KNO)
