Woman cop dismissed from Service in Baramulla over Drug Case
Baramulla, April 9, 2026:In a move underscoring strict adherence to discipline and integrity, a follower of the J&K Police has been removed from service for her alleged involvement in a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Follower Shameema Bano was dismissed from service with effect from April 8, 2026. She had earlier been placed under suspension in June 2021 following her arrest by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu, in connection with a contraband seizure case registered under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act.
Following her arrest, a departmental inquiry was initiated. Upon its conclusion, and after completion of all required procedures, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla issued an order for her removal from service under the applicable provisions of the J&K Police Rules.
District Police Baramulla reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability within the force, stating that any involvement of police personnel in unlawful activities will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
