Pulwama: Shakeel Ahmad Wani, 40, from Pulwama might be physically challenged, however, it has not stopped him to start his own business to earn dignified livelihood.

Wani, a resident of Kalampora Pulwama, has started to repair cycles in his village. He said that by birth his both legs have polio, making him physically challenged.

“I have five brothers, four of them after getting married are living separately and if the other one will get married, he too may live separately,” he said. “If I won’t earn, then there won’t be any other option left for me to beg.”

“I can’t go before anyone and ask him for anything, so I decided to start repairing cycles, so that I won’t face any problem,” he said, adding that “I am repairing cycles in my compound and I want to open my shop so that I can earn livelihood.”

Wani said he had applied for a scooty in the social welfare department in the year 2017 but he is yet to get it. “I have requested authorities to provide me scooty but so far nothing has been done,” he said.

“Many people like me are begging but my message for everyone will try to earn yourself don’t be dependent on others,” he said. (KNO)
