Winter Vacation For Classes Upto 8th From Nov 28, Upto 12th From Dec 11

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory on Saturday announced winter vacation for all Government Schools and recognized Private Schools upto higher secondary level in Kashmir division.

According to a communique, “The Directorate of School Education, Kashmir (DSEK) has announced winter vacation for Classes upto 8th Standard from November 28th to February 29th, 2024.”

“The Classes from 9th to 12th (upto higher secondary level) shall obseve winter vacation from December 11th to February 29th, 2024,” reads the communique.

“The teaching staff shall report back to their respective schools on 21st February, 2024, so that they remain available for making arrangements regarding preparation of ensuing examinations,” it said.

“All teachers shall remain available on demand for any online guidance of students during vacation period. Any default on part of the Head of the Schools/Teaching staff in observance of the above schedule shall attract strict action under rules,” it added.

Recently, the parents and the Private Schools Association had also urged the Government to announce winter vacation earlier. They also had expressed concerns about the health of school children in these harsh weather conditions, including cold temperatures and foggy mornings in the Kashmir valley.
