Week after setting herself ablaze, Sopore woman succumbs at SMHS hospital
Sopore: A week after setting herself ablaze, a 32-year-old woman from Sopore succumbed to her injuries at Srinagar’s SMHS hospital on Wednesday.
According to the news agency KNO, a 32-year-old woman sustained severe burn injuries after she set herself ablaze at her in-law’s house in Sidiq Colony area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday last week.
Officials said that the woman (name withheld) set herself ablaze after pouring Kerosene oil over her body following which she was rushed to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Sopore by family members and neighbours where doctors reffered her to SMHS Srinagar in critically condition for advanced treatment where she succumbed to her burn injuries.
Meanwhile, Station House Officer (SHO) Sopore, Azim Khan told KNO that the reason behind committing suicide is being ascertained.
He said a case under FIR number 272/2020 under section 309 has been registered and further investigation is going on in this regard. (KNO)
