The Election Commission (EC) on Thursday reported that 32.88 percent of votes had been cast by 12 noon during the 13th National Parliament Election, covering more than 32,000 polling centres across the country.

The update was shared at a briefing held at 12:45pm. EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said voting was continuing in all centres despite a few isolated incidents reported from different parts of the country.

“So far, voting has not been suspended in any polling centre. There is no alarming situation,” he told reporters, adding that no casualties had been reported in connection with sporadic incidents of violence.

Voting began at 7:30am on Thursday across all 299 constituencies amid tight security and widespread public interest. According to the Election Commission, polling is being conducted in an orderly manner at 42,659 polling stations nationwide.

The voting process is scheduled to continue uninterrupted until 4:30pm, after which counting will begin in phases.
