Violent Protesters Disperse Peacefully After SSP Baramulla Interacts With Public

Srinagar, July 19: The violent protesters dispersed off peacefully in Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district after Senior Superintendent of Police Amod Nagpuri arrived at scene and interacted with the protestors.
The SSP first made an announcement using public audio system, appealing protestors to stop pelting stones and assured them that the issue of scarcity of water will be resolved.
He also appealed youth to listen to the respectable citizens of area and assured them that their demand will be taken up with higher ups.
“I understand that the water is utmost important for all of us. Neither can you survive without water nor I. But pelting stones is no solution. I assure you that your demand for immediate restoration of water supply will be taken up with higher ups without delay,” he said.
“Please stop pelting stones. Send respectable citizens so that we can talk and resolve the water scarcity issue. The stone pelting isn’t solution for restoration of water supply,” he added.
Soon after his announcement, the stone pelting stopped in the area and respectable citizens of the area came to take the SSP inside of areas affected with water scarcity. The SSP gave them patient hearing and assured redressal.
During his interaction, the SSP also talked to angry youth. The affected areas thanked SSP for his personal intervention and assured that no law and order problem would reoccur in the area.
Later, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Minga Sherpa also visited the affected areas and assured people of redressal of grievance.
Earlier, local residents from Chainbal Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district staged a protest, blocking the Srinagar-Baramulla highway to demand a solution to the ongoing water scarcity in their village. The peaceful demonstration escalated into violence, leading to several injuries and significant damage to vehicles.
