Veteran Journalist And Group Editor National Herald Zafar Agha Passes Away

NEW DELHI: The veteran journalist and group editor of National Herald, Zafar Agha, passed away at the age of 70 at Fortis Hospital in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi after brief illness on Friday, PTI reported.

Agha was born in 1954 at Allahabad and did Masters in English Literature from Allahabad University.

Agha began his career as a journalist with the Link magazine in 1979 and was active in the profession for more than 45 years.

In his 45-year career, he also worked with The Patriot, Business and Political Observer, India Today, ETV and Inquilab Daily.

His final stint as a journalist was with the National Herald group, first as editor of Urdu daily Qaumi Awaz and then as editor-in-chief of National Herald.

Agha also served as member and then officiating chairperson of The National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions till 2017.

The Press Club of India expresses profound grief and sorrow at the passing away of veteran journalist.

“The Press Club of India expresses profound grief and sorrow at the passing away of veteran journalist and Group Editor of National Herald, Zafar Agha. He had worked with several publications, including the Patriot, and India Today. We stand in solidarity with the family & friends,” the Press Club of India said in a post on X.
