Under Whose Instructions Security Was Allotted to Conman: Advocate Asks In RTI Application

Srinagar, Apr 23: An Advocate from Srinagar has filed two more applications under RTI Act to seek details about the procedure under which Gujarat man Kiren Patel, who impersonated as PMO official, was provided security cover and accommodation in Kashmir.
The RTI applications have been filed before the Public Information Officer (PIO) in the office of Senior Superintendent of Police Security Kashmir and PIO in the office of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama.
Advocate Aamir Masoodi in his application has sought information from the office of SSP Security Kashmir related to security protocol of Patel.
The information sought includes details of procedure for issuance of security cover to any VIP person in Kashmir.
Advocate Masoodi has also sought copy of written order/signal/communication on the basis of which security cover was allotted to Patel during his last two visits to Kashmir.
He has further sought the details of assigned reasons for allotting the bullet proof Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number JKO2CJ 3165 to Patel in Kashmir.
In a separate RTI application filed before PIO in the office of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Advocate Masoodi has sought details about the total number of meetings held in between Patel and Deputy Commissioner Pulwama.
He has further sought details regarding the purpose of all the meetings held between Patel and Deputy Commissioner Pulwama; and, name of officials who attended all these meetings in Pulwama.
In his earlier RTI application filed before the PIO in the office of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Advocate Aamir Masoodi has sought details of total amount spent on accommodation, transportation and other expenses of Patel on his last two visits to Kashmir
As reported earlier by ANN News, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered an inquiry to probe into various aspects related to visits of alleged Gujarat conman, Kiran Patel to Kashmir during the past months and security arrangements made during his visit.
Patel was arrested by Police from a five-star hotel in Srinagar for posing as an ‘additional secretary’ in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and enjoying security cover besides other hospitality.
On his arrest in Srinagar, FIR No 19 of 2023 was registered against him at Police Station Nishat for criminal intention and indulging in activities by employing a high degree of forged means.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar has said they were checking the lapses in the present case and action will be taken against the officer involved.
“There was negligence on the level of a field officer and action will be taken,” Kumar said, adding that the police acted quickly against Patel when they got to know about the case.
