Two Pakistani Militants Killed After Army Foils Infiltration Bid in Keran Sector

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Indian Army thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran Sector of Kupwara district in North Kashmir on Thursday, resulting in the deaths of two Pakistani militants.

The operation was launched following credible intelligence received on July 17 from the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), corroborated by other intelligence agencies, about a group of foreign militants planning to infiltrate through the Keran Sector. On July 18, at approximately 12:30 PM, alert troops observed suspicious movement of two individuals through thick foliage on the LoC, the Indian Army’s Srinagar-based PRO said in a statement.

When challenged, the militants opened fire, leading to an intense firefight. Both militants were killed, and a cache of weapons, war-like stores, and a Pakistani identity card were recovered from the site of the firefight, the statement said.

This successful intelligence-based operation highlights the close synergy between the Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF), and JKP. It marks the third successful anti-infiltration operation on the LoC in recent weeks, underscoring the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the sanctity of the LoC and ensuring peace in the Kashmir Valley, the statement added. — (KIMS)
