‘Two Missing Rajouri Residents Traced from Shopian’

Rajouri: Two villagers feared to have gone missing in snow-affected upper reaches of Rajouri and Reasi districts have been traced by police in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, Rajouri police on Wednesday said.

“Missing report of two persons was lodged on October 24 in police station Budhal in which it came to fore that one person namely Javed Shah son of Haneef Shah resident of Targain along with a relative namely Khadam Shah son of Muzamal Shah resident of Hasote Chasana Reasi went to Kashmir by foot alongwith their sheep and goats on 22nd October but no further communication had been possible with them”, a police spokesperson said in a statement to GNS adding “On receipt of this information a police party from Police Station Budhal was rushed to the upper reaches of snow bound mountains for search and rescue operation while army also assisted in this operation whereas police from Reasi district also dispatched it’s teams for this operation.”

In the meantime, the statement reads, a specific technical exercise was initiated and Budhal police station gathered information based on technical evidence in order to trace the missing person.

Based on this technical exercise, Police Station Budhal team led by SHO Mustaj Ahmed succeeded in tracking the said persons from Mony Mahal area of Shopian district following which District Police Shopian immediately swung into action and assisted in establishing contact with the missing persons who have been now safely traced, the statement reads.

In the meantime, SP Rajouri, Sheema Nabi Qasba has appealed people not to venture on snow bound mountains and areas and to move only on those tracks which are safe in winter season. (GNS)
