Two militant associates of LeT, TuM arrested in Budgam
Srinagar: Police in Budgam claimed to have arrested two militant associates of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen (TuM) and recovered incriminating materials from their possession.
Police spokesman in a statement issued to the news agency Kashmir News Observer, said Budgam police along with 53RR have arrested two militant associates of LeT and TuM.
They have been identified as Sameer Ahmed Ittoo and Ubaid Ameen Mallah both residents of district Kulgam. “Incriminating materials including flags, banners and letter pad have been recovered from their possession,” police said.
“During the preliminary investigation, it has come to fore that these persons were involved in grenade lobbying incidents in Pulwama and Kulgam districts of South Kashmir, besides they were making posters, banners and flags of banned militant organisations on the directions of their handlers across borders for further distribution at various locations in Central and South Kashmir. They were also actively involved in recruiting militants and OGWs with the aim to carry further militant activities in Budgam,” police said.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 6/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Chadoora and further investigation has been initiated.
Pertinently, the timely action by the police and security forces has prevented major militant activities in the area, police said. (KNO)
