Two Local Lashkar Militants Killed In Baramulla Encounter
SRINAGAR — Two local militants, affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit were killed in an encounter between government forces and militants at Wanigam Payeen in Kreeri area of Baramulla district on Thursday.
Reports said a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Wanigam Payeen in Kreeri area of Baramulla district following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
In the encounter, two local militants, affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit were killed and they have been identified as Shakir Majid Najar and Hanan Ahmad Seh from Shopian.
Both had joined the militant outfit recently in March 2023.
Arms and ammunition including one AK 47 Rifle and a Pistol were recovered from the site of encounter. — (KIMS)
