Two Drug Peddlers Arrested with Huge Consignment of Narcotic Substance in Bijbehara

Continuing its efforts to curb the menace of drugs, Anantnag Police achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting two drug peddlers and seizing a large quantity of narcotic substance at Bijbehara area.

Acting on specific input, a police team from Police Station Bijbehara laid a naka (checkpoint) at Donipora Bijbehara. During checking, a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK21A-3990 was intercepted. Upon thorough search, the police recovered approximately 136.3 kilograms of poppy straw-like substance concealed in the vehicle.

Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested on the spot. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sunil Kumar, S/O Dharam Pal, R/O Gandhi Camp, Jalandhar, Punjab and Boby, S/O Balbir Das, R/O Tilak Nagar, Jalandhar, Punjab. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime has been seized.

A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara, and investigation has been taken up.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the consignment was part of an interstate drug trafficking racket, with possible links across multiple states. Further investigation is underway, and more arrests are expected in the coming days.
