Two Dead, 53 Injured In Udhampur Accident, Three Critical

Jammu: In a tragic road accident, two persons died and 53 others were injured after a passenger bus they were travelling on fell into a rivulet in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“A passenger bus on way from Udhampur to Ramnagar, skidded off the road and fell into a rivulet near Kooh Nullah in Ramnagar area,” said a police official.

He said two passengers died on the spot while 53 suffered injuries. Police and locals immediately rushed to the spot and shifted injured to the hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Krishan Lal son of Sandokhu Ram resident of Marta and Mohhmad Haroon son of Naseer Mohammad resident of Koonallah.

According to reports, three survivors sustained serious injuries and were referred to Command Hospital, Udhampur while other injured are being treated at different hospitals of the district.

Chief Medical Officer Udhampur, Dr K C Dogra told Greater Kashmir that two passengers were declared dead on arrival at the district hospital.

He said 42 passengers injured in the mishap were brought to different hospitals of the district. “Three critically injured persons were referred to Military Hospital for advanced treatment,” he said, adding that 39 injured are out of danger.
