Colombo: Sri Lanka was rocked by multiple explosions – including two churches – on Easter Sunday, a police spokesman said.
One of the explosions was a St Anthony’s Church in Kochchikade of the capital, Colombo. Another church in Katuwapitiya, Katana was also hit.
Police also reported explosions at the Shangri-La Hotel and Kingsbury Hotel in the capital.
Photos circulating on Twitter shows a disoriented Easter Sunday congregation at St Anthony’s church and rubble from tiles of the roof strewn over the floor.
Sri Lankan media, citing hospital sources, said at least 150 people have been taken to medical facilities. There has been no confirmed number of deaths.
