Transport Secretary Reviews SANJY-2025 Readiness in Anantnag, Issues Key Directions for Yatri Movement

 

Anantnag, June 30 : Secretary Transport, J&K,Naveen SL (IAS), chaired a high-level meeting in Anantnag to review and finalise transport arrangements for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2025.

 

Meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir, General Manager JKSRTC, all Assistant RTOs of South Kashmir, representatives of Traffic Police, and other concerned stakeholders.

 

The Secretary was informed that a dedicated fleet of 1100 vehicles, including commercial taxis, will be deployed for facilitating the movement of pilgrims. Notably, Sadhus availing of this service will be provided free transport, as part of the administration’s inclusive Yatra policy.

directed strict enforcement against any instances of overloading or overcharging by commercial operators. He said such malpractices would not be tolerated during the Yatra period.

 

To ensure real-time monitoring and road safety, flying squads comprising officials from the Motor Vehicles Department, Traffic Police, and J&K Police will be deployed round-the-clock. These teams will also assist in traffic regulation, especially in congested or sensitive zones.

 

The meeting also decided to involve volunteers and NGOs in assisting traffic personnel and spreading road safety awareness among pilgrims and drivers throughout the route.

 

Secretary Transport emphasized the need for seamless inter-agency coordination and a robust quick response system to tackle any transport-related issues swiftly. He also laid special emphasis on ensuring the convenience of vulnerable groups including elderly pilgrims, and asked officials to make adequate arrangements for their comfort.

 

Naveen SL directed all departments to maintain high standards of service, safety, and efficiency throughout SANJY-2025, calling the Yatra not just a religious event but a collective responsibility to uphold peace and hospitality in Jammu and Kashmir.
