SSP Traffic G.L. Sharma Leads On-Ground Inspection; Yatris Urged to Follow Advisory Amid Rain Forecast

With the sacred Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025 set to begin on July 28, senior traffic and police officials have initiated a comprehensive review of traffic management and safety protocols along the Yatra route.

Sh. G.L. Sharma, SSP Traffic Rural Jammu, accompanied by concerned executive and traffic police officers, conducted a detailed inspection from Sunderbani to Mandi (Poonch)—the core stretch of the pilgrimage route.

  • The team visited the Sunderbani Army Ground, a key halting point for breakfast before the Yatra proceeds toward Rajouri and Poonch.
  • Further inspections were carried out at the Yatra Ground in Rajouri, Budha Amarnath Ji Asthan in Mandi, and Dashnami Akhara and College Ground in Poonch town, where yatris are scheduled to halt.
  • Discussions were held with local stakeholders to streamline vehicle parking arrangements and assess the current road conditions.

Due to ongoing construction on the NHW-144-A route and the onset of the monsoon season, officials have expressed concerns over possible landslides and traffic disruptions. Therefore, pilgrims and the general public are strongly advised to:

  • Stick to the prescribed Yatra route: NHW-144-A from Bhambla to Poonch and then Poonch to Mandi via Kalai Bridge.

  • Abide by weather and traffic advisories regularly shared by authorities.

  • Respect the cut-off timings for upward and downward movement between Jammu and Poonch to avoid any untoward incidents.

Traffic Police officers deployed along the route from Sunderbani to Poonch have been briefed to ensure coordinated efforts with District Police, Civil Administration, and Yatra Organizers for seamless traffic regulation and pilgrim assistance.

SSP G.L. Sharma reassured the public:

“Traffic Police will remain on high alert and fully available to assist all yatris during the entire yatra period. We urge everyone to cooperate and follow advisories to ensure a safe and spiritual journey.”
