Three solved one left alone and the kid is Afsana!

By: M S Nazki

To a great mind, nothing is little SDPO. Z AJaffri you can this too and you can do it! Afsana could be my kid also!

-‘ SDPO Mendhar Z A Jaffri Sir if you solve the one of Afsana then no brute will ever trample a child because, where there is no imagination, there is no horror. The kid faced a horror and she was assaulted!’

‘ I know writing is a mistake but I’m accustomed to that but It is a mistake to confound strangeness with mystery. My friend R S Bastami may not be knowing all this or could be also but somethings we discuss are not to be written! I never make exceptions. An exception disproves the rule. Our only rule is to get to the truth!

-‘It was one of the most sensational crimes and most scandalous wrongful convictions of the 21st century in District Poonch , a case that would be known as the Mendhar strange affair. It involved a savage murder, stolen little girl’s innocence, wily family member who went to her knowing far more about the killing than she would ever disclose. Trust me he would have been at Afsana’s grave too’!

-‘That was a disgraceful frame-up, in which stupidity and dishonesty played and equal part. The involved have to be punished because Afsana was a kid and she could be of any one! Afsana means that its an incident or a story, the Mendhar Police should not be at a standstill and I have to say, ‘Choti si baat thi, mudrer hua tha aur aapne afsana bana diya. Chalo koi baat nahin, Ab hum banaa dete hain, kahani ab DNA tests se hogi, lie detector test, uske baad brain mapping akhir mein’ I never thought that my Urdu was so bad because justice is a must here all the way for the small fairy now buried and forgotten!

I have an incident to tell before I start this story! Time and again I mentioned that I’m a book lover and trust me I sleep with them because they are allover my bed! My wife keeps quarrelling with me over my indiscipline and my daughters keep tidying them up and stealing something which till date I have never asked! It could be books or the small props as pieces to decorate the room! This is what I read last night and am putting it across:

Just before Christmas 1908, Marion Gilchrist, a wealthy 82-year-old Scotswoman, was violently murdered in her Glasgow home. Robbery appeared to have been the motive, although Miss Gilchrist’s maid, Helen Lambie, told the police that only a single item was missing: a valuable gold brooch, shaped like a crescent moon and set along its length with diamonds. The Glasgow police soon settled on a suspect: 36-year-old Oscar Slater, an immigrant German Jewish gambler who had recently pawned a similar brooch. Though the police learned within a week that Slater was innocent, Miss Gilchrist’s brooch had a single row of diamonds, whereas Slater’s had three, they pursued him all the same: They were under immense pressure to solve the case, and Slater was precisely the type of man (foreign, Jewish, of dubious livelihood) they wanted off Glasgow’s streets anyway. Police and prosecutors unashamedly built a case against Slater through witness tampering, the subornation of perjury and the suppression of exculpatory evidence. Sailing with Lambie and two other witnesses to New York, where Slater had gone on a long-planned trip (a voyage, they argued, that was a clear indication of flight), they extradited him to Scotland, where he stood trial in the spring of 1909. After a jury deliberated for barely an hour, he was convicted and sentenced to hang.He was never because in 1925, he managed to smuggle out a message to the one man who could save him: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Though Conan Doyle is renowned today as the author of the Sherlock Holmes stories, he was then equally well known as an indefatigable champion of the underdog. One of the most famous men in Britain, if not the world, Conan Doyle brought a string of injustices among them divorce reform, Belgian atrocities in the Congo and clemency for his friend Roger Casement, convicted of treason to wide attention through his books, articles, lectures and ceaseless tide of letters to newspapers. He even ran twice for Parliament, though he lost both times.

Dealing with death is one of the hardest things that human beings beings have to cope with. Our Police cops and officers have to do so almost every day in J&K Union Territorry. However, when a loved one passes away in the most heinous fashion, unexpectedly, then attaining closure becomes even more difficult.

Now imagine addressing your personal demons when you do not know who to blame or who to demand justice from. To add to this, if you’re hounded by media coverage and speculation, life would truly become hellish.

Cases can go cold for a variety of reasons, and when they do, it’s incredibly frustrating. But it looks like we’re going to have to accept that these crimes are never going to be solved. A couple of them I will relate but the lit is huge world and Nation over. For example:

The murder of Jean Marie Townsend: The night of September 14, 1954, 21-year-old Jean Marie Townsend left a party and was found the next morning in South Ruislip, England, strangled by her own scarf. Rumor abounded that an American soldier was responsible, but the police never identified a single suspect. The case was reopened again in 1982, following several anonymous tips, but the case went cold again and remains unsolved. All of these creepy urban legends have an actual real-life grain of truth… Then let me talk about the fifteen-year-old Barbara and her 12-year-old sister, Patricia, disappeared into thin air after seeing the film, Love Me Tender in Chicago on December 28, 1956. What followed was one of the most labor-intensive missing persons cases in Chicago history, according to crime historian, Ray Johnson. A month later, their bodies were discovered lying naked by the side of a local road. Although the coroner claimed the girls seemingly died from exposure within four hours after their disappearance, his report was widely criticized and takes partial blame for the case having gone hopelessly cold.

But Afsana was found hanging in her own house! The Mendhar Police can find the same out and some one within the family is telling a lie! Or could be that someone has been told and paid not to spell out the truth! Afsana cannot but someone can! The question is who! The Mendhar Police knows better! The story does not stop here!
