Three Minors Missing From Sopore Seminary, Families Seek Admin’s Help

SRINAGAR: Tree minors have been missing from an Islamic seminary in Maharajpura area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, since August 3. The police said the trio has gone outside Kashmir and a special team has been deployed to track them.

The missing students have been identified as Fazil Ahmad Sheikh (17 years) resident of Ohangam Village of Budgam district, Abdul Wahid Dar (22) resident of Patoosa Rafiabad) and Mohsin Bashir 18-(Bunkoot Bandipora).

They were studying at Madrasa Markazi Jamia Islamia Arabiya (Islamic Education and Research Foundation) Chunkipora Maharajpora Sopore.

SP Sopore Divya Dev told Rising Kashmir that three students have been missing from Darul Uloom Sopore since August 3. The trio is believed to have left Kashmir. A special police team has been formed to locate them as soon as possible.

“They are minors, and we hope they will be reunited with their families soon,” she said, adding that a formal missing persons complaint has been filed at the Sopore police station.

SP Sopore Divya also mentioned that the minors might have left the institution due to a tight study schedule at Darul Uloom. We hope to track them down soon.

Mufti Abdul Rashid, administrator of Islamic Seminary Sopore, said that three students have been missing from the institute since August 3.

He said both families have been informed and a complaint has been filed with the nearby police station.

“Two of the missing students joined our institution four months ago, while one joined two years ago. All of them were diligent and timely with their work. We are coordinating in police investigation and hope they will be traced soon,” Mufti added.

Meanwhile families of the trio on Tuesday appealed to people to help them to trace their wards, who went missing on August 03.

Mohammad Yousuf Sheikh, father of Fazil Ahmad told Rising Kashmir that they have searched each and every place in their localities but could not trace him. He left us in deep shock, he said.

Yousuf said none among the three students has a mobile phone but they remember each and every number and contacts of the families.

The family members urged the administration to help in tracing their missing son. “We appeal to Fazil also if he is staying anywhere return to his home. None among family members have eaten anything from the past four days,” he said.

A close family member of Abdul Wahid Dar (22) resident of Patoosa Rafiabad urged local administration to help in tracing their missing son. He is the only hope of our family and has no one who can look after his family,” he said.

Dar’s family has also approached the police in tracing out their missing son, meanwhile, police have registered a missing complaint in this regard. (RK)
