Three militants slain in Srinagar gunfight
Srinagar: Three militants were killed in an overnight gunfight between government forces and militants at Hokarsar in Umerabad area of Srinagar city.
The identification and affiliation of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained.
Earlier on Tuesday evening government forces including army’s 02 RR, J&K Police and CRPF had launched cordon and search operation in the area following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
As the searches were intensified, hiding militants opened fire on joint forces party, triggering an encounter.
The operation was halted for night due to darkness. This morning operation was resumed and three militants were killed.
