Three militants slain in Shopian gunfight
Shopian: Three militants were killed in an overnight gunfight between government forces and militants in a village in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday morning.
According to reports, a gunfight broke out between government forces and militants at Sugan village in Shopian district on Tuesday evening. After an overnight long operation three militants were killed in the gunfight.
The slain militants have been identified as Sajad Malla from Maldera Shopian, Junaid Rasheed from Tumlahal Pulwama and Mehraj Din from Arigam Pulwama.
Earlier, government forces including J&K Police, CRPF and Army’s 44 RR had launched a cordon and search operation in Sugan village following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
Meanwhile as a precautionary measure, authorities have snapped down mobile internet services in Shopian district.
